STEPHANIE MISA

The Pink Elephant is a nod to the English idiom, "an elephant in the room", usually used in referring to a big topics that remain glaringly unaddressed or are conveniently ignored.

Much of the Pink Elephant's meaning hinges on the audience's familiarity with the idiom. The installation was an attempt to address a question of language: when a culturally-based expression is pulled outside of its (own langauge) context, what becomes of it?

The Pink Elephant was exhibited at Die Zelle: 81 Artists in Kaiserm├╝hlen, Vienna, Austria.
